Unlock strategies for effective facilitation and wellness experiences at a 3-day in-person Academy. This event features leading arts and wellness professionals, impacting organizations, and dynamic community networking, and includes hands-on workshops focused on individual and community health.
Our program is dedicated to rejuvenating aspiring and established facilitators, artists, and teachers across all areas of arts and wellness, to revitalize and strengthen the Alabama community.

Meet our Facilitators

Lauren Maleski
Lauren, whose background is in literary and theatre arts has a graduate certification in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida, a BS in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, and an associate's degree in Theatre Performance from Young Harris College. She is a Certified Listening Poet and a Timeslip's facilitator. Her work in Arts in Medicine includes collaborations with Huntsville Hospital, the Parkinson's Care
Clinic, and Connections, a support group for people with traumatic brain injuries and their caregivers. She currently works with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Arts in Medicine program as an artist in residence using the literary arts to increase wellness.

Timothy Joe
Timothy Joe, a talented Alabama-based artist, educator, and third-generation Black Angus farmer, is also an avid bird-watcher and hiker. He creates striking art that powerfully highlights the crucial need for nature conservation. Timothy Joe also serves on the Board of Directors of Wild Alabama. Through his detailed nature journaling and engaging soft pastel workshops, he expertly conveys vital knowledge about sustainable living and the responsible management of natural resources.

Eve Payor
Eve Payor (aka Lady Eve) is a musician, artist, and dendrophile who is a certified forest bathing guide by the Assoication of Nature and Forest Therapy, and enjoys sharing her passion for soundscape and sensory learning. As an active Zazen practioner, she incorporates meditation and subtle awareness throughout her endeavors. Her advocacy focuses on the connection between music, environment, accessibility and wellness.

Daria` Hammond
Daria` is a multifaceted individual with roles as an arts and wellness facilitator at Huntsville Hospital, a muralist, and a teaching artist specializing in creative wellness for all ages. Her skills are primarily utilized in creative wellness for breast cancer support groups, burn out workshops for healthcare employees, and painting bedside with oncology patients. As the founder of Be Hue, Daria` is passionately dedicated to using collaboration to promote mental well-being and foster positive change that will help to create healthy creative communities.

Soundwalk
an immersive mindfulness experience through Big Spring Park that emphasizes listening to the environment without the use of technology, enhancing the experience through sound or voice. Participants are challenged to connect deeply with their surroundings through attentive listening.

Urban sketching
an engaging, expressive, and community-oriented art form that effectively captures the spirit of city life through immediate, on-site drawing through downtown Huntsville.
Creative Journaling
A curated time of connection for those who play a significant role in
caregiving. This activity serves facilitators who care for others in any
capacity.

Community Mural
A community mural created to bring families together and encourage them to share their thoughts on community and wellbeing through storytelling, open dialogue and creativity.
